Qualifications are well underway here at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for this afternoon’s Nationwide race! #20 Joey Lagano has been the fastest so far for the day. I’m rooting for Sam Hornish Jr. and he just qualified in the 6th position. I’m super excited for the race, but will be patient through the remainder of qualifications.

UPDATE: as soon as i posted this, Denny Hamlin took the top spot. Speeds are increasing as additional shade is on the track!

UPDATE: So, Jeff Gordon just met with the media… We really like Jeff Gordon and wouldn’t mind seeing him win his 5th. Here’s what he had to say, “I never dreamed of winning one, let alone four. So five would be unimaginable, really. Yet i look at last year (when) we were so close to getting number five. And that’s the way you have to focus on it. You don’t focus on a number. You focus on getting your car to the front and leading the lap that counts most; that last one. It’s still just such a special place to drive into to experience. Even just flying over when we come in and fly into Indianapolis, i’m always excited and eager to look out the window and find the track. I can remember the first time that happened when i was probably 10 or 11 years old coming to Indianapolis for the first time racing Quarter Midgets.” What a great guy with must respect for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

UPDATE: Qualifications are complete. Denny Hamlin held on to the number one spot!
