The commitments keep coming in for Danny Hope’s 2013 football class as he has picked up verbal pledges from a pair of defensive players. Defensive End Parker Cothren and Linebacker Johnny Thompson are the most recent to pop for the Boilermakers.

Cothren is a 6’5” 250 pound defensive end out of Hazel Green High School in Hazel Green, Alabama totaled 72 tackles, 15 for loss, six sacks, and three forced fumbles as a junior. Cothren is the fourth player in the 2013 class that has been recruited as a defensive end. The big man also held offers from Arkansas State, South Alabama, Troy, and Western Kentucky.
Thompson is a 6’2” 210 pound outside linebacker from Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia. Thompson, who also played as a defensive end as a junior, held offers from Charlotte, Colorado State, Ohio, Syracuse, and Wake Forest.

Cothren and Thompson are the seventh and eighth for Purdue’s 2013 recruiting class and bring the total to six defensive players to go along with Randy Gregory, Jake Replogle, and John Strauser. The Boilers have Elite 11 finalist quarterback Danny Etling, running back David Yancey, and wide receiver Myles Norwood on board on the offensive side of the ball. The 2013 class continues to be shaping up into what looks to be a very well rounded group of players.
